If you’re a fan of Chicago-style hot dogs and deep-dish pizza, Illinois might not be so bad for retirement. Pizza casseroles and hot dogs aside, the state ranks really high when looking at most theaters per capita, and Illinois has one of the widest-reaching public transportation networks of all the states.

Illinois also offers great health care and a pretty solid quality of life. Unfortunately, it comes at a cost. The state ranks absolutely worst when looking at its taxpayer ranking, and depending on where you’re at in the state (looking at you Chicago), it isn’t always so affordable.
