Affordability: 36

Quality of Life: 34

Health Care: 11

It’s really no surprise that Alaska ranked #47 when it comes to adjusted cost of living, and has a high annual cost of in-home services. Neither of these are ideal when it comes to retirement. But if you can stomach the high cost of living, the poverty rate for 65+ is the 5th lowest in the nation.

There’s also something going on here, because while Alaska’s percentage of the population aged 65 and over is really low, there’s a higher percentage of the workforce aged 65 and over.
