Reduce the Gloss of Polyurethane Finish

WD-40 can effectively reduce the gloss of a polyurethane finish on surfaces such as wood or furniture. Begin by ensuring the surface with the polyurethane finish is clean and free from any dust or dirt. Next, spray a modest amount of WD-40 onto a clean, soft cloth or rag.
It’s important not to oversaturate the cloth. Gently rub the cloth over the polyurethane-coated surface in a circular motion. As you do so, the WD-40 works to break down the sheen of the polyurethane, leaving you with a less glossy, more matte finish.
