Phyllis George ushered in the era of women in sports coverage, allowing others to follow. She was replaced by Jayne Kennedy on The NFL Today in 1978. Jayne became the first African-American woman to host a sports television broadcast when she took over from George.

Three years later, she made history again by becoming the first African-American woman to be featured on the Playboy Magazine cover. She has recently become passionate about human organizations and charities, working to help raise funding for children’s hospitals.
