If you have fine or thin hair, adding volume to your hair is something you want. You are well aware that you cannot do anything to change the texture of your hair or the amount of hair you have but there are things you can do to make it look fuller and thicker.
My first tip is to start with a shampoo and conditioner that is specifically formulated to add volume. Especially avoid products that say moisturizing or sleek. Those will weigh your hair down even more. A secret I have discovered to help add volume is to only condition your hair halfway down. Don’t add any conditioner to your scalp or near it.
Washing your hair every day is helpful. As you go in between washes, oil begins to accumulate in your hair, making it look even thinner. If you must go a day without washing your hair, definitely invest in a good dry shampoo.
In my opinion, the key to having volume is using a root pump spray. My favorite brands for this product are Big Sexy Hair and Guts. Both pump your hair up and give you some height at the crown as well as making your hair easier to work with.
After adding your root pump, blow dry your hair upside down which will train the hair to not lie as closely to your head. Before curling, give your hair a good spray with an aerosol hair spray to help it hold curl and not go limp.
A tip you may not want to hear but has been proven to be beneficial in achieving hair with volume is to go shorter. You don’t have to go for a pixie style haircut but do try to choose a style that isn’t any longer than shoulder length. Having your hair stylist cut in some layers will give added movement and volume.
If you try these steps you will find you have the hair you have long dreamed of having.
