There comes a time in all our lives when we must make a major purchase. Perhaps it is new furniture, and upgrade to our home or even a new car. When it comes to making major purchases, many of us might want to use a credit card to do it – those free points and miles are worth that purchase, right? However, we do have to keep in mind a few interesting concepts, including the fact that we get the most for our money. Debt is not an option, so we have to find a card that allows us to make a purchase, enjoy what we have and actually use our purchase for good. With that in mind, here’s what you need to look for when it comes to opening your wallet and choosing the right card for a major purchase.
The Best Points
Ask yourself which reward card works well for you. You might get more points for flights, but you might use more hotel rewards or cash back. You have to make a decision that works for you, bt you can do it easily without much effort.
Transferrable Points
You might get more bang for your buck if you use this card, but you might be able to transfer those points to another program and get the most for your money, such as free flights or hotels. If you can, choose a card that allows you to transfer your points to other programs so you can further take care of your needs.
Citi Cards
If you don’t have a Citi card, consider one. The bank offers you the opportunity to take advantage of a program called the Price Rewind Program, which allows you to register all purchases. If that item falls in price within 60 days of your purchase, Citi reimburses you the difference.
Charge Cards
These are great, because these cards must be paid in full at the end of the month. If you are worried you might not pay that big balance once you finish shopping, use this card. You have no choice, so you will be a lot more careful about what you choose when you make that large purchase.
