Long hair can seem unattainable for women that have fine hair. Fine hair is difficult to manage. But thankfully, just because your hair is fine does not mean that you cannot wear it long. You just have to use some special tips to make long hair work for you.
The first tip that you need to follow is remembering that fine hair is easily damaged. Be careful in styling your hair with heated styling tools. Don’t use anymore heat than necessary and when you can, give your hair the day off from being styled.
Secondly, use a shampoo and conditioner that helps to boost your volume. You need to carefully choose your hair products. If you don’t like volumizing formulas, that is okay but be sure to choose a formula that doesn’t weigh your hair down.
Invest in a good root lifter. Root lifter is a product that you use on the base of your hair, near your crown that will give you lots of lift. Root lifter can be a bit pricey. I have found, in my experience that salon root lifter is better than the drugstore variety. Try to blow dry your hair upside down to give it even more volume. This should be done right after you apply the root lifter.
You need to choose a style that works with your hair. Having some long layers added in will help you to have body and movement. Additionally, you need to style your long hair in a way to give the illusion that it is thicker than it is. Spiral curling your long hair is a great way to do that. You can do this with many different size curling irons but my favorite is a 1 inch curling iron.
