Get A Tan Without The Sun: The Right Way To Use Sunless Tanner

You can still have a gorgeous, healthy glow without spending hours in the sun or visiting an unhealthy tanning salon.  Sunless tanner is a great invention for those that want to look tan but don’t want to partake in unhealthy habits that wrinkle their skin prematurely and put them at risk for skin cancer.

But there is a right way and a wrong way to use sunless tanner.  The wrong way is to just slather it on, rub it in and expect it to give you the right look.

The right way to use sunless tanner starts in the shower.  Before you apply tanner, shave and use a body scrub to exfoliate any rough areas in your skin.  The places that usually need the most attention with a body scrub are elbows, knees and ankles.

After your shower, dry fully and then begin to apply the sunless tanner, beginning at your feet and working your way up.  You do not want to apply sunless tanner to the bottoms of your feet or the palms of your hands.  Use a smaller amount on the dry areas that required exfoliation; the elbows, knees and ankles.  This is because they tend to take the sunless tanner easier and can appear orange if you use too much.  Apply a light coat rather than very much.  You can always add more.  You cannot always take it off.

Use caution when applying to the neck area, being sure to apply equally around your neck.  It is okay to apply sunless tanner to your face but use a light touch.  Be sure to wash your hands when you are done and pat dry.

Selecting the correct sunless tanner is important.  Try to find one that builds slowly and is meant for your specific skin color such as Jergens Natural Glow.
