Hair damage happens to all of us at some point. You can get hair damage from a variety of factors. But do you know what causes the worst hair damage? There are certain practices that cause more hair damage than other things.
Heat styling is one of the worst things you can do for you hair yet it is necessary to wear so many of the current hair styles. Heat styling tools include hair dryers, curling irons, hot rollers and flat irons. So how can you achieve the look you want without ruining your hair? Using a thermal heat protectant is a good way to add a layer of protection to your hair. Simple apply it right before you use heat styling products. Another thing that can help you with damage from heat styling is to not use it when you can get by with it. If you can let your hair air dry, it is a much healthier choice. If your hair won’t cooperate with that on a day to day basis then try to just go without heat styling on days you won’t be going out in public. It is a good way to give your hair a break.
Bleaching is also hard on your hair. The best way to avoid this type of damage is to try to go longer in between when you have your hair bleached. Try not to let your roots get to you and see if you can extend your appointments by four weeks or longer. You can also deep condition your hair weekly to help with the damage that bleaching causes.
Washing your hair too often can cause damage because it steals the moisture out of it and leaves it dry and brittle. Aim to wash your hair no closer than every other day. If your hair looks dirty in between times, try to do your hair in updos or use dry shampoo to get you through.
