All-natural beauty product recipes are all the rage right now and for good reason. Regular beauty products on the market now are made with many harmful elements and by using all-natural ingredients, you know what is going onto your body. You can’t get more natural than coconut oil, which is a great resource to use in making your own beauty products. There are a ton of amazing things you can make with coconut oil, from body scrubs to sunscreens to lip balms and much, much more!

Here are five proven coconut oil recipes that are great for your skin:

1. Hand Scrub

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 1/4 cup sea salt
  • 1/4 cup organic sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Stir the honey and coconut oil in a medium-sized bowl. In a separate small bowl, mix together salt, sugar, and lemon juice. Pour the salt/sugar/juice mix over the honey/coconut mix and stir all together until the mixture is smooth. Store in a small glass container.

2. Lip Balm

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespooon beeswax
  • 1 teaspoon Red Palm Oil (orange/red color) or Olive Oil (faint yellow color)

In a double boiler, heat coconut oil, beeswax and oil together until they melt. Mix them all together and then pour into a storage container. Be sure to let it cool before usage.

3. Sunscreen

  • 1/2 cup shea butter
  • 5 tablespoons of beeswax
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons zinc oxide
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
  • 3/4 teaspoon essential oil

Mix together shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax in a glass bowl over a hot pot of water, or you could also use a double boiler. Keep over low heat until the three ingredients have melted. Remove them from the heat and then stir in the zinc oxide, essential oil and Vitamin E oil. Pour the liquid into a silicone mold and put in the fridge. Cool for about 30 minutes and then pop them out and store in a tight container at room temperature.

4. Eyeliner

  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil
  • 4 teaspoons aloe vera gel
  • 1-2 capsules of activated charcoal (black) or 1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder (brown)

Mix all of the ingredients together thoroughly. Store in an airtight container in a dark and cool place. Always use a clean brush for each application.

5. Body Butter

  • 1/2 cup shea butter
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 jojoba oil
  • 5-10 drops of essential oil (lavender and peppermint scents are great for this recipe)

Put shea better, coconut oil and jojoba oil in a glass bowl in a saucepan that has enough water to touch the bottom of the glass bowl. On medium heat, blend the oils together until they melt. You’ll know when it is ready when the mixture goes semi-clear. Remove from heat and refrigerate the oils for about an hour until it is white and solid. Using a hand mixer, beat the oils until they become fluffy, like the consistency of whipped cream. Add essential oils to it and beat to incorporate into the mix. Add the whipped body butter to a container and refrigerate that for an hour.
