10 of the most useless martial arts aren’t necessarily bad when exercising. But in a fight, yeah, they’re useless.
Aikido
The fancy wristlocks and takedowns look cool in Hollywood movies. But in a real fight, this isn’t going to be effective, let alone useful.
Sumo Wrestling
If you’re a football player and plan on going to the NFL then this ceases to be one of the most useless martial arts. Otherwise, it’s a waste of time and way too much food to eat to keep up that figure.
Capoeira
It’s flashy, fun, and entertaining, but it’s not practical. I hate to say this since I love this style, but Capoeira is a useless martial art since it has way too many weaknesses. But it is fun to watch.
Kyusho Jitsu
Two things: any martial art that relies heavily on pressure points isn’t going to work in a fight. It’s also not wise to let someone get that close during a fight.
Wing Chun
The Ip Man movies made this style look pretty cool, right? But against a trained fighter it’s not going to work as well, especially if that fighter knows how to move from left to right and not in a simple linear fashion.
Ninjutsu
Feel free to laugh at this since the art of Ninjutsu is a Hollywood construct more than anything. While it’s been legitimized, or attempted, it’s not something that would serve you well in a fight.
Combat Systema
An effective martial art could help a person in a fight against an untrained, or trained, fighter. Sadly, any martial art that does not include regular sparring (which helps you learn) is best to stay away from.
Jeet Kune Do
Many people would argue against this since Bruce Lee, the style’s creator, was a legend. However the unfortunate fact is that many will not be able to learn as Lee did, and focusing on many styles without specializing in one is not a great idea.
Kung Fu
In the movies, it looks awesome, and a lot of us grew up with great martial arts movies. But in reality, this style is far flashier than effective.
Empty Force
The concept of Chi and the idea that it can be used to defend or attack is…ridiculous. Yes, there is such a thing as life energy, but gathering it in this manner is an idea best left to fiction.
