Shebudget’s Top Five Picks For Car Insurance Providers

car insurance

If you drive, you need car insurance. Even if your car isn’t worth anything and even if you are not paying for your car anymore, you should still carry at least some coverage. We will not get into what kind of coverage you need for your vehicle, but you should know that it’s not something you should stop paying for all together once you pay off that car note and move a little bit closer to financial freedom. For one, if you are in an accident and your car is totaled, can you afford to replace it without a little financial assistance? If you are in an accident and you are at fault, can you afford to pay the damages to someone else if they choose to go after you for responsibility?

There is too many ‘what if’ moments involved with driving without insurance, which is why we here at SheBudgets recommend that you pay for this service. We don’t know what kind of coverage you need, which is where your car insurance agent comes in handy. This is a person you can trust to provide you with good information, knowledgeable service and a great coverage plan. Additionally, this is the person you are trusting with a big part of your life, which is why you should pick an agent you trust and like. If you’re not sure who to go with, what type of company you want and where to start looking, let us recommend the five car insurance companies we feel are the best bet for drivers. Do a little research before choosing your favorite and rest assured that you’re going to end up with coverage you can trust.

State Farm

This is a company that is frequently named number one in the industry in all its different areas. State Farm, like most insurance companies, does not cater only to drivers, but to many of your other insurance needs as well. State Farm is my own car insurance company, and I’ve been with them for 15 years now, since I began driving. I, personally, will not change companies. My rates are significantly lower here than anywhere else, and my agent is one who always goes out of his way to ensure that we are satisfied with our coverage and our needs. The few times we’ve been in an accident (thankfully nothing serious and thankfully nothing we’ve caused) we’ve been taken care of immediately by our insurance. There was never a time in which we were waiting around for anything. We are taken immediately care of and our agent does a great job checking on us and following up with us, even when we’ve been cared for and have our issues resolved.

AllState

AllState is another great company. This is a company that has wonderful customer reviews and people just love this company. After doing some research, we’ve learned that AllState is great to their customers, particularly those with a great driving record. Those who have good records are given twice yearly rebates, they are taken care of and they are shown appreciation. This is a company that will go out of its way to ensure that drivers have the best rates, the least amount of wait time when filing claims, and they are available to their customers 24/7.

Nationwide

Insuring a teen or student driver can be pretty expensive. It’s one of the most expensive additions to any car insurance policy, which is why so many parents dread the day their teens are finally able to drive. It’s also the reason so many parents celebrate the day their kids graduate college, get jobs and begin paying their own insurance for the first time. The people at Nationwide understand this issue, which is why they make it their mission to help families with student drivers. They also encourage education, which is another huge plus at Nationwide. If you have a full-time student driver between the ages of 16 and 24, you can show off your child’s report card to your Nationwide agent and receive something they call the Good Student Discount, which is offered to all students who maintain at least a B average. Not only does the academic success of your child lower your insurance rate, it also promotes a good academic career for your kids – especially if you make them pay their own portion of the insurance bill each month.

Geico

Geico is a hugely popular insurance company, and it’s not just because of the talking Gecko and their 15% savings. This is a company with which just about anyone can obtain car insurance, even if their driving record is far from perfect. This is a difficult feat for some drivers with less than stellar records with many other insurance companies, but not so with Geico. In addition to offering coverage to bad drivers (sorry to be blunt) Geico also offers coverage discounts to their drivers that make for big savings. Some of the most popular ways to save with Geico include having a good student, having a good driving record and having a theft program installed in your car. There are many other ways to save with Geico, but these are just some of the biggest.

Progressive

What we absolutely love about Progressive is the fact that they are true innovators in the world of insurance. For example, this is the company that brings about some of the most promising changes to the insurance industry, and they offer the snapshot program, which is really a wonderful concept. This is a program that monitors your driving habits for 30 days. It monitors when, where and how far you drive, how you use your brakes and every other aspect of your driving. It then uses that information to figure out just how likely you are to get into an accident based on your driving habits, and then offers you coverage based on that. It’s a really great way to save, and it’s a really innovative and stellar program for the insured.
