10 Hotel Credit Cards Worth Having for Travel

Traveling is so much fun, and everyone should try to make time to do it as often as possible. When you are a frequent traveler, you can actually earn free travel at all times, and that’s something you just cannot pass up. For example, did you know that by applying for a credit card from your favorite hotel, you can earn free nights right away, more free nights over the first few months you have the card, free nights on your anniversary and you can earn points every time you spend money at that particular hotel brand? That means every room, massage, valet fee, drink, meal or anything else you buy when you’re traveling is quickly adding up so that you can have even more free nights, vacations and experiences to last a lifetime. It’s a wonderful experience to get to travel free of charge, and that’s why we love the idea of doing just that by applying for one of these amazing cards.

Starwood Preferred Guest Amex

When you make your first purchase with this card, you get 10,000 bonus points. When you spend $5,000 in 6 months you get another 15,000 bonus points. You will also earn and receive a free year of no annual fee and then it’s only $65 afterward. Additionally, you will be able to use your points, which accrue with every stay at any Starwood hotel property and any purchase you make elsewhere, anytime as long as you are a member. They never go bad.

Wyndham Rewards Visa

All you have to do to earn 30,000 bonus points on this card is to make one purchase or balance transfer. When you get this bonus, you have enough points to stay for five nights at the lower end Wyndham hotels. However, you do have to choose the card that offers an annual fee to earn this bonus point number. Otherwise you will only get a 12,000 point bonus on the no annual fee card.

Club Carlson Premier

Some of the most impressive points are awarded with this card. You will receive 50,000 points once you make your first purchase and another 35,000 after you make $2,500 in purchases in the first three months you have the card. Additionally, you will earn 10 points at all Carlson locations for every dollar you spend, and 5 points everywhere else you spend money with this card.

Choice Privilege Visa

By using this card to book even just one stay at any of their properties, you’ll receive 24,000 bonus points. You will also earn another 8,000 when you make your first purchase here. When you spend money at a Choice location, you will earn 15 points on every dollar spent. Other spending is worth 2 points for every dollar you spend.

Chase Hyatt

Spend $1,000 within 3 months of opening this card and you will receive two free nights at any Hyatt hotel. Additionally, you will earn 3 points for every $1 spent at any Hyatt, 2 points on every dollar spent when you dine out and book other travel and you will earn 1 point for every dollar you spend on anything else in your life. You may begin booking free nights when you reach a total of 5,000 points and up.

Marriott Rewards Premier

If you spent $1,000 on this card in three months you will get 50,000 bonus points, which is huge. You get a free night after you are approved for the card, and you get a free night every year when your account date anniversary rolls around. Additionally, you will pay an $85 annual fee, but only after the first year is up since it’s free that year. You get to reap great benefits, so it’s worth having this card in your wallet for your future travel needs.

Chase IHG

Anytime you use this card at an IHG property you will earn 5 points on the dollar. At restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations you will earn 2 points. Anywhere else you use this card will result in one point for every dollar spent added to your account. By spending more than $1,000 in the first 3 months you can earn 60,000 points, which could be as many as six free nights in a lower-end hotel.  There is a $49 annual fee, but you do not have to pay it the first year you have this card.

Hilton HHonors Surpass from Amex

With this card you will earn a whopping 40,000 points just by making one purchase. Another 20,000 bonus points will be added to your account when you spend $3,000 or more in 3 months. The rewards are phenomenal. You will receive 12 bonus points each time you spend $1 at a Hilton property and you will receive half that at restaurants and other places. You can redeem your points for any number of amazing travel rewards.

Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve

What makes this card amazing is that you only have to spend $2,500 in four months to earn two free nights at a number of different Hilton properties across the country. You also get 10 points per dollar spent at all Hilton properties, 5 points for every dollar spent on other travel and 3 points for every dollar spent on other purchases. There is an annual fee and you will need excellent credit, but you will not have to encounter and foreign transaction fees, which is a plus.

Fairmont Signature Visa

Instead of offering cardholders points, you just get two free nights as well as two free breakfasts when you are approved for this card and you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months of having the card in your wallet. The annual fee for this card is a bit higher than most at $95 per year, and it is waived the first year you have the card. Each dollar spent at Fairmont is worth 5 reward points. Other purchases are worth 1 point unless it’s a car rental or airline purchase, in which case you will earn 2 points.
