Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express Overview

American Express

Perhaps we’ve mentioned the Blue Cash Everyday card from American Express once or twice, but we like to keep you up-to-date on all the latest and greatest offers that some of our favorite cards have to offer. We know that finding the right credit card to use personally or professionally is a big deal, and it’s not always one that’s so easy to find. We also know that you might not have thought this particular card was the one for you at one point in your life, but you might be interested in something like it now. We like to keep you informed, and that means it’s time to bring up this card once again to help you understand how it’s changed and what it now has to offer.

Right now, the Blue Cash Everyday card from American Express has a new special offer that is completely worth mentioning. It’s pretty much all that’s changed about the card since the last time we mentioned it to you, but it’s a good enough offer that we’re doing a brand new overview on the card to help you decide whether or not it is the right card for your wallet. It might be, it might not be; but now you know.

This is a great card in general, but it is not for everyone. It’s great for those who make a lot of purchases and want to earn cash back on those purchases, and its exceptionally great for those who travel often and want to earn additional cash back on travel purchase and on travel rewards. If you feel that you fall into any of these categories, perhaps this might just be the card for you.

What We Love

What we love about the Blue Cash Everyday card from American Express is that it’s a good card to have. It’s one that is beneficial in a number of different ways, so we’ll list those for you to see. The most impressive is the new sign-up bonus being offered to new cardholders. Right now, sign up for a Blue Cash Everyday card and ear up to $300 cash back. the rules are simple. Once you spend $1,000 over the course of the first 90 days your card is opened, you get $100 from American Express.

To earn another $200 cash back from American Express, you need only spend $4,000 on travel in the first six months of having this card in your wallet and you’ll earn 5% cash back – which is $200. Now that you know how to earn big cash back right away, you might want to learn just how you’ll earn cash back otherwise. This card is pretty well-rounded when it comes to cash back, and that’s something we can appreciate as a whole.

  • 3% cash back is earned on every supermarket purchase up to $6,000 per year (this is potentially $180 in cash back every year)
  • 2% cash back is offered on all purchases at gas states and department stores without any cap throughout the year
  • 1% cash back is offered on every other purchase throughout the year, including supermarket purchases that exceed the $6,000 yearly cap on the higher rate of return

The way you earn cash back is through something called Reward Dollars. These are given to you only in the form of a statement credit. It’s a nice way to minimize the amount due at the end of the month, or even a great way to pay off a vacation or a Christmas shopping spree at any time.

Other things we love about this card is that there is no annual fee. We aren’t even talking about no annual fee for a year and then you have to pay one, either; we are strictly speaking no annual fee – ever. Essentially, this card is free to carry and pays you to carry it the first time you earn any amount of cash back.

We also love that this card covers things such as your car rental loss and damage and your travel accident insurance, but mostly we love that the Blue Cash Everyday card offers you the esteemed benefit of a global assist hotline. Basically, any time you are more than 100 miles from your home, you have access to medical, financial, legal and emergency services to help you in any way you might need.

What We Don’t Love

We aren’t big fans of having cash back limits in certain categories. Spending $6,000 per year at the supermarket is something I can do in less than three months with my family of six, and then I’m destined to earn a paltry 1% cash back afterward. However, I do love that there is no limit to the amount of cash back I can earn at my favorite department stores and gas stations. If you spend $3,000 per year on gas in your household, you’re going to earn $60 cash back, and that’s not a bad deal for gas.

Basically, there is not much we don’t love about this card, which is why we wanted to remind you just how good it is now that the new offer and sign-up bonus is available to new cardholders.
