Even if you fully intended to go back to work when you had your baby, you have found that you feelings have changed since you went on maternity leave and now you can’t imagine anything you want more than to be a stay at home mom. Now that your little darling is here, you can’t imagine leaving them. You had no idea how much you would love them or how your heart would break at the thought of being away from them for hours a day.
Is it possible for you to be a stay at home mom? The idea is certainly worth taking the time to consider. It is important to think about how much it costs you to work and think about if it is worth it. There are expenses you do save on when you are a stay at home mom.
Start by making a list. Unless you have free childcare for your child or children, that is a whopping chunk out of most people’s pay. You also have to figure in what you have to spend on clothing for work, gas, the wear and tear on your car, lunches out and the take out that you find you often purchase because you are too tired to cook after working all day. Generally, all of that added up is a sizable amount.
Are there other ways that you would be willing to make cuts in the budget to allow you to be a stay at home mom? There is no right or wrong answer and it is a very personal question. Maybe you could clip coupons or switch to some generic brands to help offset the change in finances. There are ways to rework your budget to allow more room in your finances for necessities. These are all things you should consider when you are thinking of becoming a stay at home mom.
