Trying to figure out what every state is best at is kind of tough at first, but after a little searching, it’s interesting what you’ll find. Every state is a giant mix of skills and talents, but some are just better at certain things.

Alabama-College football

Flickr

When you think about it, Alabama almost appears pre-selected every year when it comes to college football championships. Honestly, that’s an exaggeration, but this state loves its football team, and for a good reason.

Alaska-The great outdoors

Flickr

The state is admired for the fact that much of it has not been despoiled by civilization in comparison to many other states. It’s likely because it’s so dang cold up there, but it’s also uplifting since there is still plenty of natural beauty left.

Arizona-Sunshine

Flickr

So yes, Florida is known as the official state where sunshine is one of the most noticeable aspects. But somehow, the sun is brighter in Arizona with a 90 percent chance of seeing this big bright ball every day, or so it’s said.

Arkansas-Duck hunting

Flickr

This state holds a championship duck-calling contest, so yeah, duck hunting is a big thing here. People come from all over the US to experience this phenomenon.

There’s a lot to say about California, and whether it’s positive or negative is up to the individual. But they are an incredibly diverse state, and that feels like a great talking point.

Colorado-Being active

Flickr

There are a lot of fit people in Colorado since the obesity rate is lower than in many other states. Why is that so? Well, there’s a lot to do for one thing, and it’s easy to see that a lot of people are willing to get up and move around.

Connecticut-Making money

Flickr

When the average income is $50k or above you can easily think that they’ve figured something out in Connecticut. Maybe sharing a few tips would serve a few other states well.

Flickr

That whole vibe that indicates the fact that many people know each other is the tradeoff for not having a lot of social hotspots to visit. Delaware isn’t a boring place, but it’s more personal.

Florida-Vacationing

Flickr

There is a reason that people flock to this place. Seriously, it has a theme park that’s essentially its own city and draws people from all over the world.

Georgia-Growing onions

Flickr

Yes, you read that right, onions. Vidalia onions are among the sweetest onions in the world, and they’re kind of exclusive to this state.

Flickr

So, how does a state become the best at simply having beaches? Well, many people would explain it in simple terms: Hawaii is naturally attractive and has one of the best beaches in America in Maui. That’s one way to say it.

Idaho-Homeownership

Flickr

While Idaho’s appeal is a kind of hot and cold thing, the idea of owning a home here is appealing to a lot of people. Homes are affordable and tend to last, which is extremely comforting.

Flickr

Yeah, a lot of states grow pumpkins and are good at it. But Illinois grows the largest percentage of gourds used in the nation, so they’ve got that going for them, which is nice.

How many of us complain about the roads in our state every day? Kansas does have poor roadways, but they’re outnumbered by the good roads that are found in this state.

Nevada-Rock climbing

Flickr

There are plenty of states where rock climbing is a big thing, but Nevada has 300 mountain ranges that climbers look at as an opportunity. Why? Because they’re there, duh.

New Hampshire-High College tuition

Flickr

This isn’t something that any state should count as a proud moment, but it’s what New Hampshire is best at. High tuition doesn’t always mean a better school, but it could mean better resources for the students.

New Jersey-Diners

Flickr

Diners are comforting places, aren’t they? Jersey is by far one of those states that has the most diners from border to border. Time to get your chicken-fried steak on.

New Mexico-Doctorate degrees

Flickr

Flickr

This is another subject that could cause a few hard feelings, but Oregon does have a lot of breweries. Most of them are in Portland, where craft beer is king.
