Summer is approaching and that means beach vacations, long or short, are popping up on schedules everywhere. When you decide to make the trip to the beach, domestically, internationally or even on a ship, you are making the decision to create memories that will last a lifetime. However, when it comes to beach travel, there are a few things you need to know to ensure your trip is as seamless, fun and memorable as possible.
Pick the Right Beach
The problem with beach vacations is that there are so many beaches that people forget that they’re all different. For example, your entire beach vacation can end up ruined if you plan on taking the kids for a family vacay only to find out you chose a resort in an area that allows nudity on the beach. If you aren’t comfortable with that, your entire trip could end up upsetting you. Make sure that you research the beach you want, the amenities offered and the type of beach it is before you book your trip.
Pack Right
One thing to keep in mind when you’re packing for a beach vacation is that some places will charge you a significant price for picking up things you need. For example, if you forget to pack your sunscreen or your hat or your sunglasses, you might pay a lot more than you really want to if you have to rely on your hotel’s gift shop. A bottle of sunscreen can cost as much as $20; and it’s the same type you can buy at home for $5. Nothing ruins a trip faster than blowing your travel budget on things you should have remembered to pack at home. Make a list and stick to it.
Language Barriers
If you plan on traveling internationally and you want to have a great trip, you should practice the language if it’s not your native. Make sure you know at least a little of local language so that you can ask for the basics. It can be frustrating to realize your child needs a band-aid and you have no idea how to ask for one.
