Being married is hard work for some, and it comes pretty easily for others. There’s no right or wrong way to do marriage, but many couples have the same hopes, desires, and basic rules of respect. If you want to make sure that your marriage stays strong for the long-haul, you need to know how to have a happy marriage, and you need tips to help you do that. Here are a few great tips that will help you keep your marriage strong.
You Don’t Want to Change Each Other
So he doesn’t clean the hair out of the sink when he’s finished shaving, and the man has not noticed dust on the coffee table ever in the history of his life. Chances are good that when you fell in love with him, he was the same way. When you recognize each other’s flaws and know that they’re there to stay, you’re going to be much happier.
Using Demands as Favors
When you want him to do something for you, ask him in a way that makes it sound like a favor instead of a demand. When he thinks he’s doing something for you as a bonus, he’s more willing to do it. Instead of saying, “Load the dishwasher and fold the laundry,” say, “It would be so wonderful if you would do these things for me,” and he’s much more willing to do it, and everyone is happier for that.
Being Appreciative
When he takes out the trash, do you thank him? Chances are good that you do not show your appreciation for one another for the small things you both do, which is not good. It’s good to show each other you notice the small stuff and appreciate it very much from time to time. Imagine how good you’d feel if he came home tonight, gave you a kiss and said, “Honey, I just wanted to tell you that you’re an amazing mom and I’m so happy that you’re home to take care of our kids all day. They’re going to be some pretty amazing people because of you.” Now don’t you want to make him feel the same way?
