A lot of people would likely agree with the 20 reasons why you shouldn’t listen to career politicians when they speak. Despite the obvious biases, many people gladly state that a career politician, or any politician, is hard to trust.
The perks they get are why some of them get into politics in the first place
Why not have an easier life as one of many career politicians? Sure, there’s a chance you won’t have much of a life, but for the perks, many people have made the obvious decision.
Like many politicians, they talk from both sides of their mouths
One could rightfully say that this doesn’t represent all politicians. But career politicians are just as prone to this type of behavior as anyone.
They are dangerously out of touch with American values
There is a certain bias here that many people in America work with. But when politicians continue to prove that they don’t always have the same values as the people who vote for them, it’s tough to eliminate it.
The status given to them goes to their head
This happens to a lot of people who become famous or influential. But here’s the kick, none of them are quite as special as they might think.
Many career politicians forget where they came from
When your responsibility to your state or region is forgotten, then you don’t really belong in that position any longer. Career politicians sometimes forget this.
They’re there for the long haul
Most career politicians are ready and willing to do whatever they need to so that they can maintain their position. You can take that as you’d like, but it’s tough to trust someone who will act out of such self-interest.
Too many of them get very little done
This is an argumentative statement without a doubt. But if one really looks, they’ll see that several career politicians know how to stir up crowds and not much else.
They make a great deal of money for doing very little
If anyone has the nerve to argue with this, well, that’s your opinion. But the truth is that unless they come from a difficult walk of life, career politicians don’t know what hard work is.
They can hold a position without doing much
How often do you see an elected person getting booted for not doing a good job? It’s tougher to get them out of office than it is to get them in.
Some of the ways they keep themselves employed are hard to figure out
It’s even tougher to figure out how they become millionaires so quickly if they do. Granted, not every politician is that high and mighty.
Career politicians can eventually become president
Read what you will into this statement. But those who do take that path aren’t always the greatest of leaders.
Many career politicians will do whatever it takes to maintain their position
Saying what it takes is often the path many take rather than doing what it takes. Too many false promises have outnumbered actions that would keep their popularity.
Their opinions and beliefs can be swayed
Special interests are always an issue since people want to make sure they have a politician on their side. Sadly, a lot of politicians have ways to explain this.
They are human, and fallible
This is why picking people to represent large numbers of other people is a problem. It’s needed, but it’s always fraught with risk.
They speak for demographics they know little about
Many politicians fall out of touch with the people they represent. Unfortunately, they still try to speak for them.
There is no intelligence or skill requirement for this position
It’s recommended, that much is for certain. But you don’t need to be a scholar to be a politician.
Their failures are often disastrous for everyone…except them
Unless something really bad happens that will cling to career politicians, they don’t appear to suffer much. They might get away with the metaphorical slap on the wrist.
Many of them will make compromises without question
In some cases it’s necessary. But in others, well, they’re doing what they can to save their own skin.
It’s very tough to get them out of office
They have to do something so heinous or obvious that it can’t be forgiven. Even then, it’s not always a guarantee that they get kicked out.
Many of them have lofty ideals that go nowhere
In a way, career politicians are older kids who get to brainstorm all the time but make very little difference. And they’re the people who try to lead others…
