“Pregnant.” It’s the one word that changes your entire life forever. It changes every single aspect of life as you know it, from what you eat and drink to what you drive, where you live, where you go, how you make decisions and even where you go on date night. Becoming a parent is the single biggest life-changing occurrence around, and that one word begins a change you don’t even realize. November 17, 2015 will mark 8 years since the morning my excitement got the best of me and I woke up at 6 am on a Saturday morning with my husband so that I could take my first ever pregnancy test six days before my period was even expected to arrive. The two minutes in between using the test and waiting on the results were the longest in our lives, and when we saw that one word, our lives changed forever. We had no idea just how much our lives had changed, either. It’s been 7 years next month since we became parents for the first time, and I can tell you that there are a couple of websites, blogs and social media pages you absolutely must follow if you are expecting.
Each of these sites, blogs and pages will help you in some way, shape or form as you experience pregnancy. They will help you understand what it is you are going through, experiencing and feeling; and trust me; I’ve used them for three pregnancies and four children.
Whattoexpect.com
What to expect when you are expecting; it makes life so much easier. Get the books, follow the site and get to know more than you ever thought you could possibly learn while in the midst of this thing that we call parenting and pregnancy. I promise you, I used these books and this site through all three of my pregnancies without regret and with much happiness.
Thebump.com
What I love about this site, and have loved about this site through all three of my pregnancies, is the fact that you it covers anything and everything from pregnancy to birth to parenting to blogs and conversations with other women going through the same things as you. It’s an amazing resource you cannot deny.
Babycenter.com
Another great resource for your parenting needs, babycenter.com has a bit of everything for you. It has the best of the information you need to get through your pregnancy, to answer questions you might have and to get ideas for things you’re considering. From naming your baby to reading real life stories from moms who’ve been there and done that, this is where you’ll find it.
Pregnancy.org
This is a great, very professional site for pregnant women. What I most enjoyed about this site came to me after suffering two miscarriages between babies number one and two. I was down and out; worried, stressed and in need of information; it was this site that gave me all the information I needed and made me feel better as a whole.
Parents.com
You’ll follow this site for years to come with happiness and ease, and it’s going to make you a better person for it. We love the site because it has everything you could ever want, and it has a great concept and theme. It’s one you’ll want to follow ASAP.
Private Page of National Organization of Mothers of Twins Club Inc. (Facebook)
There are a shockingly few number of pages and sites dedicated to MoMs (moms of multiples) out there. When I became pregnant with my twins (2 years ago next month) I didn’t know for another 18 weeks there were two. So a year and a half ago, I was pregnant and just learning that it was with twins halfway through my pregnancy. I already had two kids at home, and my husband and I were just shocked. We found this page and I’ve been a member ever since on Facebook. The moms are here are all multiples parents, and they tend to share everything from worries to excitement to tips and advice, and it’s very helpful. Need to know something about multiples? Ask and you shall receive (250 comments with opinions, facts, links and answers within 30 seconds).
Scarymommy.com
Because this is just hilarious; follow it. This is a hilarious parenting blog that isn’t so much for expecting parents as it is for parents, but it’s one you should follow anyway because it’s going to make you laugh, and because it’s real. Even if you don’t follow it, you’re going to see plenty about it on Facebook when your friends are sharing. You might as well get the updates yourself.
Ahaparenting.com
Another parenting site that makes things just a bit easier and more relatable, this site is perfect for those looking to come up with something to read while expecting. You’ll get more information than you know what to do with, and most of it is pretty spot on and hilarious. It’s an honest take on parenting, and it will make you feel a bit better about your future life.
Cafemom.com
Thestir.cafemom.com is something you’ll want to refer to throughout your pregnancy and your parenting years. There is advice from real moms, from other women in your position and everything else you could ever want. It is a great resource, and it’s just the best place for you to find what you are looking for when you are in the mood for some great parenting information and inspiration.
Fitpregnancy.com
Who doesn’t want to look good while pregnant and after? Even if you’re like with the twins, on bed rest and not permitted to do much moving at all, this is a great site for future reference. Even if you are not working out, you still have to eat and this is a site that will help you make pregnancy-appropriate choices and provide you with great information, detailed health risks and benefits associated with different meals, and just about everything in between.
