Being pregnant is a wonderful experience. It may not feel like it for those who are sick or have complicated pregnancies, but at the end you will look back with a bit of sadness that your days of feeling your little one kick from the inside are over. Just like anything else, timing is everything. Being a Florida girl, you’d think I’d consider the fact that spending the last trimester of pregnancy in the dead heat of summer was a good reason to try a little earlier or wait a little longer to get pregnant, but who thinks about things like that? Being pregnant in the summer is a pretty miserable experience for most, which is why these tips might prove valuable for those of you finishing up your pregnancies in the coming months.
Find a Pool
Seems like common sense, but it is good advice. Swim. It’s a great way to cool off during the hot summer months, but it also takes a lot of the pressure off of your back and legs, which gives you a bit of relief. It’s also a great form of exercise that can help improve your mood and help you stay healthy. Just be sure to apply the sunscreen regularly!
Washcloths
Make these little towels your best friend. It’s not good to let your body temperature rise too much, particularly when you are expecting. When you start to feel too warm, apply a cool, damp washcloth to your forehead and neck to help lower your body temp and cool you off.
Find New Hobbies
Gardening might be your favorite hobby around, but in the summer months and the end of pregnancy finding a new hobby might be a good idea. Spend some time doing cool things such as taking in a few movies or doing some baby shopping in nice air conditioned theaters and malls.
