Movie night is a wonderful activity for your family to take part in. It is something our family does every Saturday night and we all thoroughly enjoy it. Really, who doesn’t love movies? Being a movie lover is part of being an American. We love this form of entertainment and that extends down to the youngest members of our family.
Having movie night is a great way to spend time together as a family. There is something very comforting about spending the evening piled up together watching movies. It is a great form of relaxation we all look forward to having after a long week. It is also an activity that my kids have not outgrown. Long after they outgrew Candyland and Operation, they still look forward to movie night at the ages of 11 and 16. And when you can find an activity that your children want to do with you as a preteen and teenager, you had better hang onto it.
Movie night can be done when they are very young, too. The trick is to make sure that the movies are appropriate for their age. If you have a small child, you can do a modified movie night. First you watch the kids film with them, then you put them to bed and watch the other movie or movies that are meant for mature audiences.
Movie night is also a cheap form of entertainment. However you rent your movies, it is safe to say you are getting a night of entertainment for well under ten dollars. You can rent three or four for that price. There is no way you could get a family into the theater for that price to see even one movie.
Having movie night also opens up a lot of opportunities to have discussions with your kids. You can take the content of a movie and use it as a discussion starter to discuss many different situations.
Having movie night with your children is a great idea.
