For me, it was love at first sight. It might sound silly, considering I was 18-years-old, but I think that more than 8 years of marriage and 12 happy years together speaks for itself. Not everyone, however, believes in love at first sight. Some do, some don’t. I didn’t, and it still boggles my mind that meeting my husband for the first time resulted in an, “I’m going to marry that guy,” comment to a girlfriend at the end of the night.
Whether or not you believe in love at first sight, sometimes you just want to know if the man you’re with or considering dating is husband material. There comes a time in the lives of some women when you are ready to settle down and find your own happily (most of the time) ever after. These tips will clue you in.
He Fights Fair
One of the biggest ways to tell a man will likely make a good life partner is the fact that he fights fair. He doesn’t place blame, he doesn’t yell, he doesn’t fly off the handle and he doesn’t call you names or make you feel that your feelings are unimportant. Fighting fair is good and healthy. It means you’re both standing up for what you believe in. It also means he respects you and your opinions.
Sometimes You Just Know
There’s no other way to explain it, so I’ll tell you what I know and what some of the women I’ve spoken to know. Sometimes you just know. When you meet a man and you spend time with him, you instinctively know that he’s the man that belongs in your forever. It’s a feeling that cannot be explained, but you will recognize it.
He Means What He Says
A good husband always says what he means (though his time frames might be a bit off….as evidenced by the fact that some projects around the house take a lot longer than husband’s like to admit). If your man is honest, means what he says, and he’s up front with you, he’s a keeper.
