It’s a historic day for America. The Supreme Court ruled today, with a vote of 5-4, that gay marriage would be legal nationwide. Across all 50 states now, same-sex couples be allowed to marry no matter where they live, and individual states may no longer reserve the right to marry for only heterosexual couples.
“The court now holds that same-sex couples may exercise the fundamental right to marry. No longer may this liberty be denied to them,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan were the four other justices that shared his opinion, giving them the five versus four majority over Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel A. Alito Jr.
The Supereme Court’s decision on gay marriage today has led to an outpouring of responses from celebrities on Twitter, the majority of which have been, of course, very positive. We gathered up some of the best ones that showcased what a monumental day for our country this truly is.
Today is a big step in our march toward equality. Gay and lesbian couples now have the right to marry, just like anyone else. #LoveWins

But personally, I think the Game of Thrones Twitter account had my favorite tweet of all. I might be a little biased, though. Was always a Renly fan.
