15 of the most dangerous professions in the world are jobs that often pay the best but demand the most from an individual. Some of them aren’t too bad, but they require a great deal of skill.
Tree trimmers/pruners
You might laugh, but in terms of dangerous professions, this one sees some of the worst injuries. A fall from these heights isn’t pleasant most of the time.
Commercial pilots
Think of it this way, you’re up in the air operating a complex piece of machinery with an untold number of moving parts. Not to mention all the controls you need to memorize and know about. Oh yeah, and you’re not responsible for just your life.
Farm and ranch workers
The number of injuries in this field is unknown since not everyone has to report these statistics. But as dangerous professions go consider this, you’re dealing with animals of all sizes that can carry diseases or, on a bad day, make your life very difficult.
Loggers
One would think that this job would be one of the most dangerous of all. Falling logs, equipment accidents, you name it, this profession is one where an accident can mean death.
Roofers
Again, falls and equipment issues are a big deal in this profession. Safety regulations keep a lot of people from being hurt, but things still happen.
First-line supervisors
In the farming, fishing, and forestry divisions, this is about overseeing those who are dealing with heavy equipment. It also involves working out in hazardous weather and conditions that aren’t ideal for one’s health.
Agricultural equipment operators
All the big tools that you need to use in agriculture look kind of diabolical. But the job they do is efficient and aggressive at the same time.
Tractor/Truck drivers
Anyone who drives a big rig and hauls stuff from place to place is prone to doling out injuries from time to time. Overexertion is another big pitfall of this profession.
Mining machine operators
Amazingly, this job hasn’t been a part of lists such as this for a while. But as recently as 2021 there were several deaths noted in this profession.
Mechanics and service technicians
Especially for those who work on farm equipment, this is one of the dangerous professions that sees a lot of injuries. It’s also in the top ten for fatal injuries in America.
Sailors and marine oilers
Anything on the sea is bound to be a little dangerous, as there’s very little room for error. But as far as being fatal, it’s not one of the highest jobs on the list.
Groundskeeping/Landscaping
Thanks to the increased safety measures and techniques applied to this profession it’s pretty tame these days. But accidents do happen now and then if people get careless.
Personal service managers
It doesn’t sound like a dangerous job, does it? In terms of the injury rate, it’s not high up there.
Audiovisual installers/repairmen
You wouldn’t think that this would be on the list, would you? But apparently, there are plenty of injuries in this profession, though it’s rare that any of the mare fatal.
Painters/Construction/Maintenance
There’s a certain level of risk with anything that’s construction-related. But again, thanks to increased safety measures the number of injuries and fatalities are quite low.
