Reasons to Take Your Work Outside During the Day

Your work environment can have a major impact on your level of motivation, your mood and your performance. Whether you work from home or you have a corner office somewhere, you need to ensure that your work space is conducive to good work. However, no matter how great and zen your office, sometimes you just need to get outside and get a little fresh air. Here are three benefits to taking your computer outdoors and getting work done.

It’s Relaxing

There’s nothing more relaxing when you’re working on a stressful project than doing it outside. If you work from home, take your laptop outdoors and sit on the porch with a steaming cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of cold tea in the afternoon. Enjoy the sounds around you and the feel of the sun on your skin. It relaxes you and lowers your stress level, allowing you to work more productively.

It’s Good for You

Natural sunlight is healthy for your mind and body. When you coop yourself up in the office all day, you deprive yourself of this simple health benefit. Take it outside for a while. If you don’t have the means to actually sit outdoors and work, at least spend part of your break time outside enjoying the benefits of natural light and stress relief.

Change is Productive

Staring at the same four walls all day long can cause you to feel a little crazy. Getting outside can change the scenery for you, providing you with something more interesting to work with. Even though you’re not really paying much attention to what’s going on when you work outside, you’re not distracted by the same old stuff you are in your office. The change can help you to feel more productive because it’s something different and new.
