Getting Through a Slump at the Office

Even if you are one of the fortunate people who love your job, it’s not always perfect. Sometimes you might find yourself in a slump, wondering why you even bother and if you’re in the right line of work. It happens to everyone. Maybe you worry about your job because of rumors that the company is making changes or things have been slow and you find yourself bored and without anything to do halfway through the day. No matter what’s got you down, you can find a way to cheer up in the office.

Go Above Your Role

If you’re having a hard time staying busy in the office, volunteer your services elsewhere. Take on a new project from a different department or come up with some creative project to jump start a new idea in your own office space. There’s no limit to what you can do, though you might want to check with your boss first.

No Thanks to Negativity

When the office gossip is making her rounds, feel free to tell her to get lost. You might want to do it in a way that’s a little more politically correct, but saying no thanks to negativity at work can help you stay focused and enjoy your job more, even when you’re in a slump. You don’t need to know who is sleeping with who and who is taking credit for someone else’s work; just get your job done and be happy.

Have Fun

When it comes to being stressed at the office, it’s more important than ever to look for fun outside of work. You can do this by taking a new class, investing in a new project at home or by spending more time with your loved ones. You’ll be more refreshed and ready for a day at the office when you’re having fun outside of work.
