One of the biggest goals people have is to be their own boss. Who doesn’t want to wake up every morning and realize that your boss is you? You don’t have anything negative to say about her when you get together when your friends and family, she’s really awesome and the worst habit she has is nothing you can’t handle. Being your own boss is an awesome feeling, but it’s not something you can take lightly. If you’ve made the decision to work for you, you’ll need to know a few things first.
Time is Money
You don’t get sick days or vacation when you work for yourself. When you’re the boss, you have to work or you don’t get paid. Time is money when you’re your own boss. This means you have to prepare yourself to spend a dedicated amount of time each and every day working diligently to run your own business. It’s not something that’s going to work out if you think your days are going to be spent lunching with the ladies and catching up on your favorite reading materials.
Work Space is Important
Another thing you need to know about being your own boss is that you must have a dedicated work space. It’s far easier to get motivated when you have a dedicated work space. This space will contain your computer, your files, your important information and everything in between. It’s hard to get motivated if you work from your bed or in front of the television, so get started creating your own home office.
Budget Everything
When you are your own boss there is something very important you need to remember; you are your sole source of income. This means that if you have a slow month, you better have cash saved up to stay afloat. Unfortunately, slow months happen. Fortunately, really awesome months also happen. You’ll need to budget very carefully so that you never find yourself in a bad situation.
