3 Things You Need to Learn As Soon As Possible

Growing up you learn a lot. You learn to tie your shoes and to bathe without parental supervision. You learn to read and write and do arithmetic; and you learn the basics of life. However, there are a few things you really should know before you enter into adulthood. If you didn’t take the time to learn when you were growing up and you’re already an adult, it’s not too late to learn this basic life lessons.

Cooking

No one expects you to learn to become a gourmet chef with all that you have to do in life – but if you are, call me. However, if there’s one thing you should be able to do, it’s cook a few basic meals so that you don’t have to live on Chinese takeout and fast food. Learn to boil water, make simple pasta dishes and throw together a few simple dishes that don’t require a lot of work.

Tools

Everyone should learn how to use basic hand tools. This includes a hammer and a drill and a wrench, along with a few others. You might think your dad or brother or grandfather will do these things for you until you get married and then your husband will take over, but you just never know when you’ll find yourself in a situation that involves the use of hand tools and you haven’t anyone to help. Just learn; it’s not that hard and it actually makes life easier.

Changing a Tire

Okay, so this is not something you want to do on your own and it’s unlikely you’ll ever need to. So many cars today have run-flat tires, which means you never even get a spare. Additionally, with so many different warranty protections and so many different roadside assistance programs, it’s often unnecessary to learn to change a tire. However, you still need to do it. You never know when you’ll find yourself with a flat on a road with no traffic and a dead cell phone battery. If you drive a car without integrated emergency assistance (such as BMW with BMW Assist or GMC with OnStar), you will find yourself in trouble.
