Ride a Bike

Really, it’s one of the simplest, most fun things you can do when the weather is gorgeous. Don a pair of shorts – dresses aren’t the best for bikes – and pedal away. Take the scenic route. Summer isn’t the time for hurrying.

Go to the Beach

It’s pretty common sense, but going to the beach is always the best way to spend the summer. Grab the family and your friends and make a day or weekend out of it. Get a tan, play in the sand and see how many dolphins you can find.

Get Ice Cream

What better way to spend a day or night with the people you love most than going out for ice cream. The weather is hot and you need to cool off, so head to the local sweet shop for a sweet treat for the whole family.

Watch the Sunset Over the Water

Find a body of water and watch as the sun slowly sinks beneath the water. If you can’t get to the beach, at least find a pond or a lake because nothing is as romantic or calming as a sunset.

Watch the Sunrise

If ever you feel like rising and shining a little early, head out to watch the sun rise. There’s something so peaceful and lovely about the early morning and the knowledge that most of the world is still asleep and you’re getting a head start on the day.

Get a Fun Pedicure

You spend all year looking professional and elegant, so why not go a little crazy and get a fun pedicure this summer? Get a different color on each toe, add sparkles or have designs painted on. It’s hard not to enjoy the summer when you can’t help but smile every time you look at your toes.

Go All Natural

Forget the makeup and let yourself go all natural one day this summer. You’re gorgeous and your summertime tan will only help you feel more confident. Let your natural gorgeousness shine this summer.

Make a New Friend

Everyone needs friends to make life more interesting, so make it a point to find a new one this summer. It doesn’t matter where or whom, just find yourself a new buddy and enjoy time together under the summer sun.

Play in the Sprinkler

It doesn’t matter how big your pool or how tropical your locale, sometimes the only thing worth doing during the summer is heading out into the yard, turning on the sprinkler and running around feeling the grass beneath your feet, the sun on your skin and hearing the squeals of delight your kids are making as they play with you.

Read a Good Book

For those of us who love to read, this is a summer to-do list item that can be done time and time again. However, try something different this summer; read something you would never consider any other time. You might be surprised.

Go Antiquing

If you can find a quaint little town with a historic district full of antique shops, hit them up. Some of the most amazing finds are in these little hole-in-the-wall areas. You’ll definitely be glad you did this.

Try Something New

If you haven’t done Zumba, join a class. If you haven’t tried skiing, take lessons. If you’ve never gone parasailing, do it. Try something new this summer. Make it an annual habit.

Take Your Time

Pick a day to do everything as slowly as possible. Don’t rush. Don’t do anything you don’t want to do unless you want to do it. Make it a day where there is absolutely no hurry and no stress.

Go On a Picnic

It’s a fun way to spend time with the people you love. Pack a decadent lunch and head out for a sweet picnic on the beach, in the back yard, at the park…wherever you want.

It’s summer. It’s sweet, it’s fun, you get to spend time with your kids, you get to spend time with your loved ones…there’s no reason not to smile.
