The beginning of a new year is full of promise and we are certain to have some New Year’s Resolutions we are chomping at the bit to put into play. That is all well and good but eventually our focus wanes and we find ourselves forgetting those New Year’s resolutions just like we did with last year’s New Year’s resolutions.
It doesn’t have to be that way this year. There are some tips you can follow to make sure that you stick with it and follow your New Year’s resolutions all the way through. Let’s talk about some ways you can do just that.
Reward yourself often. You need to stay motivated to keep going toward your goal and rewards will help you to do that. A once a week reward system is a good system to follow. Just make sure that what you reward yourself with doesn’t sabotage your efforts to keep your New Year’s resolutions. For example, if you are trying to lose weight then don’t reward yourself with a box of cookies. Be more sensible than that.
Keep a visual reminder of your goal in front of you. If you are trying to lose weight, put a picture of yourself at your goal weight on your refrigerator. If you are trying to save for a trip to Europe then put pictures around the house of places you plan to visit while you are there.
Expect it to happen. Talk about your glad as if it is a reality; this will help to cement it in your mind. It will also keep your mind centered on the goal and keep you working hard to achieve it.
When you reach your goal you will be able to say that you were one of the few people who really did keep their New Year’s resolutions.
