Coming up with new lunch ideas seems difficult but it doesn’t have to be. You don’t have to keep eating the same old ham sandwich and microwave soup. There are so many different lunch ideas that you can choose from.
Start by thinking on last night’s dinner. You could take the leftovers for your lunch or you could use them in a whole new way. Maybe you have leftover meatloaf. You could make a meatloaf sandwich. Maybe you have leftover chicken. Add in some mayo and pickle relish to have chicken salad on toast, crackers or pita bread.
Salads are a staple of meals that you can do so much with. So many lunch ideas can come from different types of salads. Pick up a bag of salad at the store and then all you have to add is your favorite meats, cheese, veggies and even fruits. One of my very favorite salads is a mix of spring greens, grape tomatoes, sliced green peppers, cottage cheese and dill pickles. Experiment and see what you like best. Adding in a handful of nuts is a great way to get your crunch craving met without giving in to a bag of chips later in the day.
Just because you are an adult does not mean you have to give up your peanut butter and jelly. You can do it adult style. Choose a natural peanut butter and an all fruit spread. Or do a plain peanut butter with a banana on the side.
There are a ton of microwaveable meals in the frozen section to think about using for your lunch. It is also okay to go unconventional. Bring a bowl of dry cereal and milk to add in when you are ready to eat. Make an omlet out of egg whites ahead of time.
You don’t have to be confined to using the same boring lunch ideas. Branch out and try these ideas for a new taste that is even healthier.
