Emerald

If you want something small that has a big impact, go with color. Right now, the hottest IT color of the moment is emerald. You can transform your entire house with just a few pieces, such as an emerald vase, paintings of shades of green, emerald bar stools, throw pillows or just a big chevron stripe rug in white and emerald. You can find it anywhere, and you can do it on a budget.

Chrome

If you’re doing something a little more dramatic, such as replacing fixtures and handles, go with chrome. Chrome is all the rage right now, and it has people seeing stars. Go forth with your medium remodel and exchange your light fixtures, fans and handles with something sleek, sophisticated and chrome. It’s a slightly bigger change than paint and throw pillows, but it isn’t quite a remodel.

Bringing the Outside In

For a major remodel that will cost you a pretty penny, bring the outside in. The best way to do this is to get rid of walls and replace them with sliders, windows and anything that makes nature feel that it is in your living room.
