Having a daily to-do list can help you to be more productive because it keeps you on task. Without a to-do list, you don’t have any sense of direction on what you are doing with your day.
Having a to do list keeps you on track. Instead of getting easily veered off course when a friend calls or a television show comes on that you enjoy, you will be more likely to remind yourself not to get distracted because you have your to-do list to help you keep yourself on track. What you want to accomplish is written in black and white and you know if you don’t stick with it, your goals will not be met for the day.
Another advantage of making a daily to-do list is that you will be less likely to forget important things that you desperately need to remember, like an important business call. There will be less stress in your life because you aren’t constantly forgetting the little details that need time and attention.
Having a to-do list helps you to prioritize your day and your goals. Instead of getting hung up in something that you didn’t mean to work on that day, a to-do list will help you to determine what is most important to accomplish that day. I find it helpful to put my to-do list in order of what is most important to accomplish, so that I am sure to complete what needs to be done the most.
Making and following a to-do list helps you to achieve a sense of accomplishment with each item you get to mark off of your list. It is a nice feeling to look at your to-do list at the end of the day and see what you were able to do.
