‘Twas the night before Christmas…guests arrive at your house to spend the holidays with you. Nothing in life feels as stressful in the moment as that feeling you get when you know your house guests are arriving in just a matter of hours and you still have a laundry list of things to do. Did you purchase enough food? Did you remember to wash the sheets on the guest bed? Should you clean out more closet space in the guest room? Will the kids behave?
A lot of stress goes into hosting house guests, but the tips will help you prepare for their arrival without freaking out. It’s the holidays; you have enough to do without having to worry about achieving perfection for your guests.
Focus on the Bathroom
If there’s one room your house guests will critique, it’s the bathroom. No one wants to use a dirty bathroom. Clean it; thoroughly. Clean the toilet. Scrub the shower. Mop the floor, wipe the mirror, clean the sink and organize all that stuff you have in the medicine cabinet and beneath the counters. Add fresh towels, plug in one of those scented air fresheners or add a few fresh flowers to a tall, slender vase on the counter. If you have plenty of guests, you may consider renting a Luxury Restroom Trailer for them.
You don’t want to have to grocery shop after your guest arrive, so do it beforehand. Make sure you have plenty of coffee, fruits, vegetables and anything else you think your house guests might enjoy. Snack foods are always good, a variety of beverages is a must and pre-planning your dinner menu is a good idea.
Create a Welcome Basket
It’s the perfect way to show your guests you’re excited about their stay. A little welcome basket might include everything from their favorite coffee to beverages, bathroom toiletries they may have forgotten to pack, slippers and magazines to read. It’s the perfect way to welcome your guests and soften them up for whatever you might have forgotten to do before they arrived.
