There are a lot of phobias out there, but there are at least 11 scary phobias that keep people from sleeping at night. A few are bad enough to keep some people from functioning in society.
Acrophobia

The fear of heights is genuine and is one of the scary phobias that can reduce people to a quivering puddle of jelly. Sometimes a person doesn’t even need to be that high up.
Arachnophobia

There’s a genuine fear of spiders since they are kind of creepy-looking. But people with this irrational fear don’t often want to see the benefits of having arachnids around.
Astrophobia

Some think that this might have to do with a fear of aliens. But in truth, it’s the fear of space and stars. Hey, it’s a wide landscape to look out on, and it’s kind of intimidating.
Aerophobia

Many people suffer from this phobia and even have panic attacks when boarding an aircraft. Thankfully, many have learned how to deal with it through medications or other means.
Agoraphobia

The fear of being outside is kind of understandable in a way. Stepping out into wide open spaces can leave one feeling unmoored from a safe haven, but it’s a very cloistered way to live if one lets the phobia get the best of them.
Claustrophobia

This one is very easy to understand since being boxed in is very confining. As one of the scary phobias, it’s common to experience this even if one doesn’t have a history of reacting to such stimuli.
Hemophobia

This phobia is found in the DSM-5 as a real problem. Imagine being so irrationally scared of blood that you can’t even look at it. Of course, blood is supposed to stay in your body, so it’s not too hard to understand.
Mysophobia

Germaphobes are not uncommon, and in this day and age, it’s not tough to feel some sort of compassion for them. After all, some folks can’t stand shaking hands, much less touching a doorknob, and sometimes for good reason.
Coulrophobia

The fear of clowns is something that’s been building over the years, as there is an inherent fear of those who wear makeup to put on a happy face. Still, back in 2016, this phobia was put to the test in a big way as people wearing clown suits walked the streets as a ‘prank’.
Eisotrophobia

A lot of people take mirrors for granted since they are fairly mundane. But this irritational fear isn’t tough to understand thanks to superstitions that have been kept alive throughout generations.
Carcinophobia

This is undoubtedly one of the scariest phobias ever since the fear of cancer is very real. Not only that but there are so many inherent signs that one might be afflicted that people can’t help but be afraid.
