Finding Serenity In The Time You Have Alone

Finding serenity sounds like something of a book title but it is actually something that we are all searching for, whether we realize it or not.  Serenity is a peacefulness from deep within.  Everyone on the planet is searching for the path to finding serenity.  It is promised in many different ways by many different things.  And you can find peacefulness in different ways.  But one of the best things you can do to be sure you are finding serenity is embrace time alone.

For a long time, finding serenity in this way was elusive to me.  As a busy mom, I am almost always surrounded by others who need my time and attention.  But as my children are getting older and finding their own interests and hobbies, I began to have a little more time to myself.  When I did, I found that it was unnerving at first.  What could I do to fill that gap of quietness?  I felt like I had to make use of every minute to stay on track with my to do list.  But then I found that there is actually a peacefulness and serenity in time spent alone.

I began to enjoy those snatches of time when I could be alone.  Sometimes I spend the time cleaning and catching up on chores but other times, I choose to simply enjoy being alone.  I read.  I write in my journal.  I spend time learning a new skill.  I have become comfortable with time alone.

Time alone is something that we all need a measure of.  It is good for our mental health and helpful in finding serenity in your life.
