One thing that can cause neck and shoulder pain is using a laptop on a surface that puts you in a position of looking downward rather than outward which is healthier on your neck. Another cause of neck and shoulder pain may be from something that you deem very healthy for you, your daily workout. This is especially true if your workout focuses a lot on your abs, believe it or not. Be observant when you are working out to see if this is true. If it is, experiment to see if there is a way you can position your body where this does not occur.
Perhaps the most common cause in women is carrying items that cause our bodies to become unbalanced and put a strain on our natural alignment. This would include items like a tote bag, a baby carrier and even your purse. Try to avoid overloading bags and be sure to switch back and forth between shoulder to even out the weight carried on each side.
