Winter seems so long after Christmas and before the first day of Spring. Bring some pleasure to those cold winter days by serving one of these warm meals.
Homemade Hamburger Helper is a great warm meal on a cold day. Brown one pound of hamburger while boiling 8 oz of egg noodles in a separate pot. Drain meat and noodles and combine. Add one cup of water and 16 oz of tomato sauce. Add salt, pepper to taste. Add one package of frozen mixed vegetables and 1 teaspoon of dried parsley. 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce will give it an added kick. Cook until vegetables are tender. Serve with bread or rolls. This meal always goes over well at our house and has leftovers for a warm meal the next day.
Chicken Hobo Bake is another favorite for our family when I am searching for a warm meal for us on a cold day. You will need one pound of chicken tenderloin, one box of stove top, one bag of frozen peas and carrots and one can of cream of mushroom soup. Make an aluminum foil packet and place raw chicken in. Top with frozen vegetables. Mix stuffing with the amount of water it calls for in a bowl. Top frozen vegetables and lastly, add the cream of mushroom soup. Bake on 350 for 45 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. This one pot meal makes an appetizing warm meal when everyone comes in from the cold.
If you want to offer your family a nice, sweet treat on a cold day then prepare a pot of hot cocoa on the stove. You can use hot cocoa mix or make homemade hot cocoa. Add one candy cane for every 4 servings of hot cocoa. Allow candy cane to melt. You will have a tasty mint not chocolate to greet them when they come home.
A warm meal and a warm beverage is what everyone needs to cure the doldrums that happen while waiting for spring.
