Pickles and ice cream; they make you think of a pregnant women whose husband runs out at 2 am to get these for her because she’s having a craving and he is so terrified she might kill him with her hormonal and crazed new personality loves her so much. If you look pas that whole pregnancy thing (or not, whatever), you’ll notice that what you have here is a food combination you might not ordinarily choose for yourself. Pickles are okay. Ice cream is more than okay; together they don’t seem all that okay. But you know, there are just times in your life when you want something and you want it NOW. And you want it bad; and you don’t even care if it seems strange and odd and completely abnormal. Sometimes, believe it or not, it’s the strangest and most off-the-wall food combinations that taste the best, and they are by far the most amazing combinations you’ll encounter.
Each of these food combinations seemed so weird to me at first, but they’ve grown on me and I think that you, too, will really enjoy the options I’m giving you, pregnant or not. So we’ve decided to put our food-loving taste buds to the test to decide which strange food combos are actually really amazing (and no, pickles and ice cream don’t make the cut).
Cauliflower and Hot Sauce
If you love hot and spicy food and something crunchy to go along with it, you do not want to miss out on this combination. In fact, it might be one of the most amazing things you will ever try. I promise you that you will love and adore this combination, and you will even find a way to incorporate it into your daily life as often as possible.
Chocolate and Bacon
There is something to be said about dark chocolate and bacon. You can do this how you want, too. Dip the bacon right into the melted chocolate. Add the bacon to the top of a bowl of ice cream and add some dark chocolate with it. Crumble the bacon into small pieces and add it to your cookies. Do whatever you want, but just do it.
Chocolate and Avocado
Try dipping small pieces of avocado into chocolate and see what happens. The taste is truly amazing and absolutely phenomenal. You’ll be so glad you tried it that you’ll want to have it all the time (it’s totally a breakfast food, right?). It’s the new chocolate covered strawberry, to be honest.
Fries and Milkshakes
I don’t know about you, but there is a particular week every month in which all I want is salted chocolate. And this is the best way to get it. The saltiest fries you can find dipped into a decadent chocolate milkshake will change your life. Probably not for the better in terms of your overall health, but you know what I mean.
Chocolate and Crackers
Again, can you tell that every few weeks all I want is salty chocolate? It’s not something I’d eat a lot of, but when you’ve got a craving like this it usually only takes one or two bites to make it go away. For me, it’s a saltine cracker dipped in melted chocolate to curb my craving and give me the satisfaction of having both things I want most in the world. It’s good stuff.
Honey and Biscuits
From what I understand, this is something that people in the south just adore. And that makes me kind of sad and pathetic given I’m a born and raised Floridian – almost 32 years and counting. But the truth of the matter is that a biscuit with honey drizzled on top is actually quite amazing, and there is nothing that really compares to this decadence.
Cheese and Chocolate
If you love the Melting Pot, and you should, you will love this meal. There is nothing like these two things when they are combined that make life so good. We love to melt cheese with jalapenos and a little beer, dip apples and chips and veggies into it, and then melt some chocolate and dip apples, cheesecake, marshmallows and fruit into it. It’s so good.
Buffalo Chicken Pizza
My husband ordered this for dinner a few months ago when we were having a lazy day at home, and I was skeptical. And I was also wrong; what an amazing piece of genius turned into a greasy and not at all healthy pizza. I could eat this all the time, though, it’s just that good. What I do love about this meal is that it’s rich, flavorful and just spicy enough to leave me feeling like I sweat out a few pounds. Which does make the meal calorie-free, am I correct?
Honey and Ice Cream
Honey is sweet. Ice cream is sweet. Why not put it all together and enjoy a bunch of sweetness? It’s good and enjoyable, and we love the idea of mixing these two delicious foods together to make something even more delicious. Let me recommend, however, that you choose ice cream that’s vanilla bean to help bring out the flavor of the honey. The combination is one that is really amazing, and it’s something you’ll want to have more often as you go through life.
Celery and Peanut Butter dipped in Chocolate
I’m a sucker for anything dipped in chocolate. Seriously; put my shoes in chocolate and there is a good chance that I will go ahead and make sure that I get a nice big bite and probably not hate it all the way. All kidding aside, however, this is a great combination, and I do love it with a lot of passion. Try it; it’s good. And it’s not that unhealthy if you’re good about your portions. You can also go another route with this one and trade in the celery for an apple and see that it is just as good. Go ahead and try it; I dare you.
