Ants are Never Fun Housemates but You Can Get Rid of Them Easily

Ants are the worst. They’re small, they’re irritating and they’re everywhere. Depending on where you live and what kind of weather you have, you might deal with ants in the house all the time or you might only deal with them on occasion. Either way, it’s no fun. Here are a few great ways to help you rid your home of ants forever.

Clean the Kitchen

If you see ants in your house, the first thing you need to do is clean the kitchen in a major way. Ants want food. They want it from your house. You need to make sure all your food products are thoroughly sealed and everything is cleaned. Make sure your floors in your pantry or cabinets are covered in spilled items, or you’ll continue to attract ants.

Seal Entrances

You can keep ants out of your home by making sure they can’t get in. See a little crack in a window or door? Seal it. You can caulk things, fill things and use sealant to ensure that ants stay out of your house. The bad news is that they could even be coming in through your garage door or sliders, so you’ll need to check them all.

Use Natural Barriers

Some people don’t like chemicals, and that’s all right. You can keep ants at bay by using natural spices from your kitchen. By lining the exterior or interior of your doors and windows with powdered charcoal, cinnamon, turmeric, and even cayenne pepper, you can keep ants out. They hate these things and won’t pass them.

Use Odor

Head outside and line your doors and windows with something ants really don’t like. You can use odors to deter them from entering your home. Start with peppermint or you can even use camphor. These are scents that are good for you, but not for ants, so you can use them inside as well.

Use Ant Baits

They’re very small and very effective, and they don’t require a lot of maintenance. Hide them by windows and doors, preferably under furniture where they’re not obvious to guests or children who might think it’s all right to play with them. They’ll kill ants almost immediately, and you’ll notice they’re gone in no time.
