IHG Announces Reduced Points for Free Nights for 2016

Free nights are always welcome when it comes to travel. Whether you’ve been accumulating your points for a while and want to ensure that you are enjoying them thoroughly or you simply want to forgo paying for a room you didn’t really want on a trip you didn’t expect to take, IHG wants you to know that from now through the end of April, you can book rooms for reduced rates using your hotel reward points. The IHG PointBreaks program is one that allows you to cash in those free rewards points you have with the hotel group at a lower rate to enjoy more free nights.

You can choose to redeem your points for free nights at hotels such as InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Hotels or even Crowne Plaza properties. You can start booking rooms for as little as 5,000 points, which is a pretty good deal considering that’s a lot less than the sometimes as high as 20,000 points it takes to stay even one night free at some of these properties.

To take advantage of this offer, however, you have to be an IHG member, you have to have points in your account and you have to book a stay between now and the end of April. Not all hotels are offering 5,000 point rooms – such as InterContinental Hotels, and not all rooms are available for all travel dates. Your best bet is to go ahead and find rooms that are available for the dates you want and then go ahead and see if you can get them for the points you require. If not, be flexible. It’s often the most flexible travel that allows you to take the most advantage of rewards and low points, which is what makes travel worthwhile during promotions such as these.
