When dealing with 15 of the most dangerous creatures in Australia some folks are of the mind that it’s best to just stay away. Seriously, some creatures in this part of the world are seriously dangerous.
Box Jellyfish
If you’re in the water and feel a slight sting there are a few things to worry about. But if you see these translucent and very dangerous creatures it’s time to seek medical attention.
Honey Bee
These little buggers aren’t the most dangerous creatures in Australia, but one thing bees tend to do is swarm. If you keep your distance and don’t aggravate them you’re fine.
Irukandji
One of the reasons this little jellyfish is one of the most dangerous creatures around has to do with its sting, but also its size. Seriously, there’s a good chance you won’t even see this thing, but you will feel the effects.
Bull Shark
This shark is found in a few places, but one of the reasons why it’s so dangerous is that it’s unpredictable. That kind of behavior in a shark is never a good thing.
Eastern Brown Snake
A lot of people hear the word ‘snake’ and panic. They should with this specimen since it is very dangerous. But again, if one leaves them alone, everything is fine.
Saltwater Crocodile
Crocodiles and alligators aren’t safe to be around anyway, but this specimen is, like many dangerous creatures in Australia, best left alone if you don’t need to bother it.
Sydney Funnel Web Spider
One disturbing thing about these creepy crawler is that they do wander into neighborhoods and will bite humans. While they don’t always kill, the toxin they deliver is anything but harmless.
Blue-Ringed Octopus
There’s no coming back if one is bitten by this creature, but it’s tough to be afraid since it’s so small and likely will stay away from humans. Of course, that’s not a failsafe since humans often go seeking trouble in the name of science or curiosity.
Coastal Taipan
It feels as though snakes get looked over a lot since so many of them are listed as deadly or dangerous. But taipans are in that class of serpent that people simply need to stay away from.
Common Death Adder
The name alone should keep people from seeking out this particular snake, but then again, people will do what they want. Thankfully, this snake will typically live in forests and other similar areas and doesn’t seek to bother humans.
Cone Shells
It’s smart to know something about the local flora and fauna of one’s home, just as it’s wise to research the same things when traveling. While this particular creature doesn’t go looking for trouble, it doesn’t blink when it comes to defending itself.
Spotted Brown Snake
You know how the cobra gets so much attention because of its venom? This snake, and many others, tend to put the cobra to shame but don’t have as much notoriety.
Mulga Snake
This critter actually looks a little dangerous, but like many animals will stay away from humans unless there’s a reason to become aggressive. Is anyone sensing a pattern here?
Red-Bellied Black Snake
There are some snakes that just look mean, even if it’s just camouflage. Still, it’s best not to test their temper.
Tiger Shark
A lot of sharks get a bad reputation from various shark movies, but some of them earn that distinction. The tiger shark is known as an aggressive creature, but wouldn’t you be too if someone was on your turf for no apparent reason?
