A brave, young 9-year-old Bode Beirdneau hiked alone through the snow to find help for his father, who was trapped after a snowmobile accident in Lake Tahoe. Neither of them didn’t have a cellphone signal or GPS, so the situation could have been horrendous. He said, “I jumped off my snowmobile and tried to dig him out,” Bode recalled. “I dug him out as fast as I could but my fingers got numb.”
Once Bode and his dad were without food or water and cut off from civilization they had no choice but to dig through and the set-off for her.
Bode said, “I was so upset, but then I thought he is such a calm kid, he is so grounded, he is such a hero, he saved his dad’s life, does he know he saved his dad’s life.” When he was asked if he knew he was a hero, Bode responded with a simple, “Um, yeah.”
At first, Bode tried to dig his dad out from being trapped under the snowmobile, but the poor boy’s fingers became numb. He then began his trek through the snow and eventually found a tour group, which radioed first responders for help. Bode and his dad were without food or water and cut off from civilization. He had no choice but to dig through the pain and then set off for help.
“I was pretty nervous and it was just a lot of pressure on me I didn’t know where to go and it was really hard,” Bode said.
