Reasons You Need a Break When You’re Overwhelmed

overwhelmed

How many times a day do you think that you need a break? One, two, three dozen times? Everyone, at some point, needs a break. However, most of us feel guilty making the decision to take an actual break from work, life, home, school, or our families. I’m here to tell you that you need to take a break; it’s not an option. When you feel overwhelmed, you don’t do anyone any favors; not yourself, your kids, your spouse or your employer. Here are three reasons you need to take a break that will leave you feeling guilt-free and relaxed.

Forgetfulness

When you’re overworked, overtired or simply overwhelmed, you can make mistakes. These mistakes are made because you become forgetful. You forget that you have to do this or mail that or take this there or pick something up here. When you become forgetful, you do nothing but complicate your own life and the lives of those around you. It’s imperative that when this happens you take a break and recover from the overwhelming feelings you’re having. You’ll gain fresh perspective and be more on your “A” game after you return to your daily life.

Quality Matters

When you need a break the quality of your work or efforts diminishes greatly. You will find that what you are ordinarily so good at doing you are suddenly not able to do as well. Your work suffers, your parenting suffers, your day-to-day attitude suffers. Take a break. It’ll help you to come back ready to work hard and provide the same great quality those in your life are used to you providing.

You Need to Take a Break

If you constantly overwork and overwhelm yourself without a break, you’re going to break. When this happens you’re going to realize that the stress and anxiety have taken over your life and caused you to turn into the kind of person you certainly do not want to be. By then, however, it’s simply too late. Learn to recognize when you’re close to your breaking point and take a break.
