#13 DACHSHUND
Dachshundsâcommonly referred to as âwiener dogsââwere initially bred to flush out small burrowing animals like rabbits and badgers. Today, theyâre one of the United Statesâ most popular breeds among urban residents and apartment dwellers.
Dachshunds come in both standard size and miniature, both with a median age of almost thirteen years. They originated in Germany which explains their nameâthe German word for âBadger Dogâ.
