Who was regarded as the greatest gunfighter in the West?

Wild Bill Hickock is regarded as the greatest gunfighter in the West; he was a legendary gunfighter feared by adversaries and admired by friends. After his arrival in Deadwood, South Dakota, Hickock could usually be found at the town’s poker tables where he liked to have fun.
His story cannot be separated from the Dead Man’s hand as he died holding a pair of black eights and black aces in his hand, leading to this being known as the Dead Man’s Hand ever since.
