There are a lot more than 10 ways your body changes as you age. But there’s one constant: it happens to everyone.

As you age and your body changes, your immune system begins to break down. This means you can’t fight off disease as easily as you did as a younger person.

The fact is that you lose muscle as you age, it doesn’t increase. Some people are lucky and remain active for a long time.

Your sex drive and efficiency will eventually fade. Some people have an issue with this, but others simply see it as another part of getting older.

If you’re over 50 and have realized that you need to visit the bathroom several times a day, then you’ve already experienced it. The level of fluid your bladder can hold does decrease.

Your digestive system is less effective

It might take a little longer to pass food through your system, and you can’t always eat as much. This isn’t that bad, except it does mean you need to change your lifestyle.

Your lungs become a little weaker

Like everything else in your body, the muscles that help to breathe begin to weaken. Thankfully, this doesn’t mean that you’re doomed to wheeze the rest of your life. It simply means that your body is aging.

Many things in your body start to stiffen up and work less efficiently. Those who manage to stay in shape will still experience an increased struggle to function as they did when they were younger.

Your brain does experience changes

Thought processes will change, and in some people, dementia will start to take hold. It pays to keep your mind sharp when possible, but eventually, everyone’s mental process slows down a bit.

Skin starts to lose its elasticity and durability

Remember when your body bruised and healed up in a couple of days? The reduced elasticity of your skin means that bruises might stick around for a while longer, and injuries become a little more serious.

Your senses begin to dull a bit

Your sight, hearing, sense of smell, taste, and touch begin to wane as you age. Some people are lucky enough to retain their senses for a while. But one way or another, your body will begin to slow down as you age.
