Five January White Sales You Should be Aware Of

Macy's January White Sales

It was all the way back in 1878 that January white sales became a thing. Long before the internet, online shopping and the desire to revamp master bedrooms and deck out children’s rooms in the chicest fashions every season, a man by the name of John Wanamaker, department store owner and businessman, decided that it was a perfect opportunity to offer huge sales on bedding so that the stores could say goodbye to old items and welcome in the new ones for the new season with vigor. Turns out, the idea caught on and before he knew it, everyone with a department store was offering January white sales. Now, more than 138 years later, we’re still waiting for the holidays to end so we can all redecorate our bedrooms at all the amazing January white sales.

This year, there are more sales than ever before, but we have a few suggestions as to where you will get the best value. Remember; it’s not always about paying the lowest price at the January white sales. It’s a combination of factors, such as getting the highest quality bedding for the lowest price. While you might find lower prices on bedding at a store such as Walmart, you probably aren’t getting the highest quality. You can pay more for better quality linens that last years longer so that you get the best quality and the most for your money. With that in mind, here are five of our favorite January white sales happening right now.

Nordstrom

Hands down the best department store that ever existed (perhaps I’m biased, but that’s where I do the bulk of my own shopping with happiness), Nordstrom offers a killer January white sale for consumers. From now until January 18, you will find that all your favorite bedding items in the store are 20% off the retail price. This sale applies to bedding, towels and even rugs, so you can work on redecorating the bathroom, too. The sale is available both online and in store.

Pottery Barn

It’s been a week or so since the white sale began at Pottery Barn, but you have a bit more time to continue shopping. At the moment, all linens and select home items are on sale for 20% off the original retail price, with some household items on sale for as much as 60% off the price asked on a daily basis.

Wayfair

Through the last day of January, most everything at Wayfair is on sale for as much as 70% off the retail price, which means you get to pick up what you really want for next to nothing. The store offers a website with so many choices you won’t know what to do with yourself, so you might want to begin shopping now.

Macy’s

Macy’s prefers to call their January white sale a Bed and Bath Closeout sale, but we don’t care what they call it. All we know is that you’re going to save anywhere from 40% to 60% off the retail price of most items available in the store for bed and bathrooms, and you can shop online or in any Macy’s department store.

Overstock

Overstock has a variety of items that work with all price ranges and budgets, and they have more items to choose from than virtually anyone else in the world. Additionally, the Overstock white sale also has sales on additional home décor items such as curtains, drapes, mattresses and even throw pillows. It might be the best choice for savings and a comprehensive overhaul of most of the rooms in your home.
