Trick Your Kids Into Eating Healthy

If you have kids, you probably know that they aren’t always open to eating everything you make. You want them to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet so that they grow into healthy people with good eating habits. However, they’d rather just toss a few oreos into a bowl of milk and call it breakfast. While you may not be able to convince theme they do not hate fruits and vegetables, you can trick them. Sure, it’s sneaky; that’s one of the perks of being a parent.

Healthy Pancakes

Pick up a package of pancake mix from the store and make it healthier. Mix some applesauce in with the pancake mix and water until it’s the correct consistency. Cook the pancakes and serve them to your little ones. They won’t have a clue that you just added a healthy twist to their favorite morning foods. Now they’re getting a little extra health benefit with breakfast, no fight needed.

Healthy Snacks

While you cannot get away from the fact that your kids love some sort of junk food, whether it’s cake or cookies or chocolate, you can help them snack smarter by offering them a healthier version of their favorite snacks. Instead of letting them have chocolate ice cream or cookies, dip fruit into melted chocolate and let them snack on that instead. It’s a lesser amount of chocolate than you’ll find in most other desserts and the added health benefit of fruit.

Vegetables

One way you can trick your kids into eating vegetables is to turn it into a game. For example, if your kids hate veggies, tell them that you’re going to pretend to be different kinds of dinosaurs during dinner and serve them a salad. Call it leaves and tell them they are herbivores. They might think that the game is fun and eat the salad without complaint.
